Letter of Support on Bike Access Bill (Intro 871) to the NYC Council

On July 29, 2009, the New York City Council passed the Bike Access Bill (Intro 871), which requires commercial buildings with freight elevators to allow cyclists to bring their bikes into the building via the elevator, provided there is space to accommodate the bikes. This new law makes great strides in supporting the use of bicycles in New York City and is one of the few such policies to take effect anywhere in the nation. The APA New York Metro Chapter wrote letters supporting this bill to the City Council and its key committees. Members of the Metro Chapter’s Transportation Committee spearheaded this effort.
