Transit Priority Analyst

The Division of Transportation Planning & Management (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City’s streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working and doing business in New York City.  The Division’s responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings, ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.

TPM is seeking a candidate to serve as a Transit Priority Analyst in the Transit Development Group (TDG). Candidate will support the key planning, implementation and community outreach initiatives related to improving surface transit within New York City, including implementation and public consultation for OneNYC and NYCDOT’s 2016 Strategic Plan recommendations; assist in the planning, community outreach and communications, and assist with the design and implementation of Select Bus Service (Bus Rapid Transit) projects, the Brooklyn-Queens Connector streetcar, L Train shutdown mitigation and other transit priority and complete streets projects and policies. Candidate will be asked to work collaboratively and inclusively in a team environment, seeking to cultivate continued professional development and effectively communicate (verbal and written) with all staff and stakeholders. Candidate will work closely with other DOT staff, with other city, state, and federal agencies (particularly the MTA), and with the general public; work with community boards and other public stakeholders in public workshops, presentations, and other settings. Also, the candidate will perform technical planning analyses include traffic analysis, GIS maps, public outreach materials, and social media support.

TDG is responsible for developing public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies in order to improve mobility for all New Yorkers. The group manages Select Bus Service projects, and develops location-specific projects to help the quality and safety of bus operations, and to improve pedestrian access to transit. TDG also serves as a resource to the agency on public transit related matters, including acting as one of the key points of contact with the MTA agencies. and search for the Job ID #:  337503
