DOT is seeking an intern for its Transit Development Group (TDG). TDG is responsible for developing public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies in order to improve mobility for all New Yorkers. The group manages Select Bus Service projects and transit policy initiatives, and develops location-specific projects to help the quality and safety of bus operations, and to improve pedestrian access to transit. TDG also serves as a resource to the agency on public transit related matters, including acting as one of the key points of contact with the MTA agencies.
The candidate will work with project managers in project planning and implementation of projects such as Bus Forward street improvement project program, planning for the newly announced citywide bus plan, and working on outreach initiatives with NYC Transit such as the Bronx bus network redesign. This position requires interaction with other DOT units and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to possess a positive outlook.
