Job Description

Regional / Senior Planner Position
The Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments (RiverCOG) is seeking a self-motivated, clear-thinking professional to develop plans, studies, and facilitate regional services under the COG’s regional planning and transportation planning programs. Experience in municipal plans, transportation and transit, economic development, regional services, GIS, and grant writing is desired. Position may also include work in environmental planning and emergency planning. Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication abilities are essential. Data visualization and graphic design capabilities are desirable.

The Regional Planner position requires a Master’s degree in city or regional planning or related field and one year of planning experience (three years for senior planner) or a Bachelor’s degree in city or regional planning or related field and three years of planning experience (five years for senior planner). Valid driver’s license and own transportation also required.

Major responsibilities will include overseeing the completion of the region’s new Regional Plan, implementation of the GrowSmart economic strategic plan, and facilitating regional service delivery.
The position may be filled as a Regional Planner (up to $50,000) or a Senior Planner (up to $60,000), depending on qualifications. RiverCOG has a 35-hour flexible work week, health and dental insurance, 401a retirement and 457 deferred compensation plans, life insurance, disability insurance and paid leave time.
