DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position has a critical role in advising the City Council on a wide variety of projects; provides technical assistance to Council Members and their staff, community organizations and other stakeholders; and, ensures the efficient review of applications. Under the supervision of the Director and Deputy Director of the Land Use Division the Project Manager will ensure timely review of Land Use applications before the Council; analyze development proposals; plan and conduct studies across a range of planning topics; create graphic and written materials for presentations; represent the City Council at meetings of civic, business and community groups, and public agencies; and development, planning, housing, and preservation issues.


The ideal candidate would possess the minimum of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university and two to four years of satisfactory fulltime experience in city planning, ability to understand and explain complex planning documents; familiarity with NYC Zoning Resolution and CEQR and an interest in developing a broader understanding of the many regulations which affect the built environment; proficiency with US Census and American Survey Data using American Factfinder and or proficiency with ArcGIS software suite; and ability to analyze MapPLUTO data and other standard NYC datasets. Prospective candidates for this position must possess excellent writing ability; research and communication skills; work well as part of a diverse team; and demonstrate a strong ability to manage multiple projects while working under tight deadlines. Also of extreme importance, prospective candidates must be able to exercise sound and careful judgement.
