Project Coordinator/Graduate Student Intern

Public Works Partners is seeking a Project Coordinator/Graduate Intern to support high profile client engagements in New York City. We’re looking for someone who brings a mix of sharp analytical and keen interpersonal skills, who is an excellent communicator, and who is excited to learn more about New York City. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adept at both directing their own work and working in teams.

This is a part-time (up to 20 hours per week) graduate student intern position. The Project Coordinator/Graduate Intern will work on specific projects with varying timeframes.


Client Services Activities:

  • Conduct primary and secondary research such as participating in community engagement workshops with a wide range of stakeholders, conducting field research, interviewing and/or facilitating group discussions with staff at all levels of an organization, and conducting Internet-based searches
  • Prepare materials for client projects, including presentations, agendas, maps, graphics, and written analysis
  • Research and prepare briefs on policy issues of interest
  • Create templates and tools to support internal knowledge transfer about our projects
  • Plan, schedule, and implement logistics for meetings, trainings, and small-scale events
  • Conduct data analysis and entry
  • Other tasks and opportunities that arise and fit with the project coordinator’s interests and skills


  • Bachelors Degree in a related field or demonstrated experience required. Candidate should be enrolled in a graduate program
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills: clear, compelling writing; visual display of information; and strong verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of visualization and dashboard design for data analysis and presentation; experience with GIS, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
  • Experience or strong interest in working with New York City nonprofits and/or government agencies.

This position will be based at the Public Works Partners office in Manhattan, though some travel to neighborhood events (in New York City) will be required.
