Job Description

WHO WE ARE

The Flushing Neighborhood 360 program is funded through the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and based in Flushing, Queens. The Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce, the local program partner for Neighborhood 360, is seeking a program manager to start immediately. The Chamber is a multicultural membership association of entrepreneurs, business owners, and civic leaders that foster the economic growth, inclusive diversity, and shared prosperity of our community through advocacy, networking, and education.

JOB OVERVIEW

The program manager will be responsible for planning and executing a district marketing campaign to position Flushing as a top-of-mind destination.  The campaign will connect local businesses with new audiences and resources through promotional activities, placemaking events, and small business support services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The program manager will report to the Chamber’s executive director and coordinate with community partners to execute the district marketing campaign and ensure the scope of work is implemented on time and with attention to detail.

Marketing & Business Support

District Marketing (50%)

  • Implement the Flushing Fantastic destination support program for the business community (website, maps, guides, small business marketing toolkits)
  • Manage and generate branded components that support district marketing program
  • Work with key community partners to develop content for district marketing program
  • Coordinate local partners of the tourism program to launch events and meetings
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute integrated communications plan including, web, social, and print collateral and content
  • Create press kits and materials; such as, but not limited to, information brochures, flyers, digital invites, and other program collateral.
  • Conduct outreach and disseminate marketing materials across all 5 boroughs
  • On-site event support for program-related activities

Business Support (25%)

  • Monitor merchant participation and visitor participation in a marketing campaign.
  • Coordinate case management of participating business to address marketing issues.
  • Liaise and coordinate with city agencies on business events and services in Flushing.

Placemaking (25%)

  • Coordinate Flushing Neighborhood 360 steering committee and community partners to brainstorm and prioritize placemaking events that activate spaces and draw visitors.
  • Plan and execute “Passport to Flushing” food and culture crawl in June to connect local business owners with the growing audience for authentic and unique experiences.
  • Schedule and manage any additional placemaking activities with community partners and local businesses throughout the year.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • General knowledge of the Flushing, Queens community and needs of business owners.
  • Prior experience in marketing, public relations, or media production.
  • A passion and a strong interest in local communities and immigrant issues.
  • Superb writing, speaking, interpersonal, and visual communication skills.
  • Experience and interest in branding and graphic design.
  • Responsible, detail-oriented, self-motivated, strong project management skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work individually or in team settings.
  • Resourceful and able to prioritize multiple projects under time constraints.
  • Proficient in Adobe software, web-based tools like Constant Contact and Eventbrite.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
