Planning Intern – Census 2020

The Westchester County Department of Planning is interested in currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students to assist in preparing Westchester County for the 2020 Census. Work will include, but is not be limited to, follow-up review of the Census Bureau’s Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA), Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS), and New Construction Program; and the writing, review and editing of summaries, reports, tables and maps to update the presentation of Census data on the Department website. Additional duties may include assistance with the Westchester County Complete Count Committee. Candidates should be proficient in working with data in Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS.
This position is available for the summer term. This is a paid position at the rate of $12 per hour. The intern should plan to work between 21 and 35 hours per week. The approval and earning of undergraduate or graduate level course credits are encouraged. Suggested fields of study include planning, public policy, urban design, economic development, geography, environmental studies, landscape architecture, public administration or a related field.
The Department of Planning is located in the County Office Building in Downtown White Plains, easily accessible by Metro-North and Bee-Line bus. We are also a bike-friendly workplace that is located near a regional bike path with secure bike parking.
