The Village of Ossining Department of Planning is seeking a summer intern to assist with the preparation of a Comprehensive Plan. The Village is just starting a Comprehensive Plan update and the Village is looking for a motivated intern to help out on this project and general planning activities.
The Village of Ossining is a vibrant community with a vast range in types of housing as well as a diversified population enjoying a healthy racial and religious mix. The Village of Ossining is 3 square miles with approximately 25,000 that reside in the historic Hudson River village. Ossining can be conveniently reached from New York City via Metro North Railroad’s Hudson Line or major highways. Westchester County’s Bee-Line bus system has extensive schedules, which enables commuters to use public transportation to go anywhere in the county.
Candidates should be interested in local community planning. The position is a paid fulltime internship with a requirement of at least 32.5 hours a week. The internship will consist of field work, GIS mapping, writing, community and social media outreach, and general office administrative work. In addition, candidates should be currently enrolled in a bachelors or master’s degree program in urban planning or a related field. Candidates must have experience with ArcGIS.
