SALARY RANGE: $64,409 – $92,043 (1/1/20 Salary)
MINIMUM FOR PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
A Masters Degree in urban planning or closely related planning or development
field from a college or university accredited by the APA; OR Graduation from a
four (4) year college or university recognized by the State of New York; PLUS One
year of planning experience or closely related field. Membership in the
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License at time of application.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Under supervision and reporting to Senior Planner or Senior Planning Official.
provides day-to-day management of Planning Board activities. Within this area of
responsibility, reviews Planning Board applications for completeness, prepares
reports, agendas, and resolutions, organizes and maintains Planning Board
hardcopy and electronic files. Responsible for the preparation of SEQRA Lead
Agency notices as well as short and long-form EAF’s as needed to meet SEQRA
compliance. Assists, as necessary, in other department projects or ongoing
programs. Consults with supervisors to discuss overall intent of programs or
projects, and determines broad guidelines for studies, utilizing knowledge of
the subject area, research techniques, and regulatory limitations. Will serve as the
primary GIS resource within the Department of Development utilizing GIS skills
for planning analysis and mapping. Must have competence in the use of census data.
