Job Description

This position is located in the Region II, New York, New York Office of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The office is responsible for administering Section 5309, 5303, 5307, 5333(b), 5335, 5310, 5311, and 5311(b)2 of the Federal Transit Administration Act of 1964, as amended, the applicable provisions of 23 U.S.C. 103(e) (4) and 23 U.S.C. 142. This includes the planning, capital and operating grant programs of FTA and their management for assigned projects. The area of responsibility includes the states of New York, and New Jersey.

The candidate serves as a Community Planner within the FTA Region II Office. The transit programs of Region II are characterized by the highest degree of complexity and sensitivity due to the number of persons served, the type and number of on-going projects, the involvement of large sums of money/complex financial arrangements, the coordination of different transit needs, the involvement of multiple governmental jurisdiction and the level of particularly complex; novel and politically sensitive issues. The Community Planner acts independently in the smaller, less complex urbanized areas and through specific assignments in the larger urbanized areas.
