DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of BLAC Affairs reports directly to Caucus Co-Chairs. The Director will work with members of the Caucus to develop, organize, execute legislative and budget agendas, and to amplify existing agendas of interest to the BLAC. The Director will work collaboratively with legislators, government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders to support the BLAC’s legislative and budget priorities. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to representing the Caucus at events and meetings with various stakeholders; draft press communications, memoranda, agendas, meeting minutes, and reports; schedule meetings and briefings; perform outreach with collaborative partners in the public and private sectors; manage social media pages and create newsletters; organize and serve as primary contact for special events; and manage day-to-day operations of the BLAC’s City Hall office.
The ideal candidate will possess two to four years of full-time experience working in government dealings within management and administration, legislative affairs, public affairs, non-profits, or community organizing; excellent writing and verbal communication skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize with strong attention to detail; demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced and political setting; work with WordPress & Microsoft Office suite. Preference to candidates with an undergraduate degree in public management, political science, public policy, management, communications, non-profit management, economics, and/or equivalent work experience in these areas. Graduate degree and bilingual is a plus. Salary commensurate with experience and education.
