The County of Rockland is seeking a candidate to perform technical-professional transportation planning work of a complex nature involving the responsibility for planning and coordinating a variety of transportation planning activities, in accordance with county, state and federal guidelines and mandates in the area of transportation. The work is performed under the general direction of a higher-level administrator and supervision may be exercised over a small number of employees. Does related work as required.
Candidates must possess thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques used in, county, state and federal transportation planning; good knowledge of transit and economic analysis; good knowledge of transportation management and capital programming of transportation projects; ability to organize and manage transportation related studies; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others; ability to use computer applications and software appropriate to transportation planning and modeling activities.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Transportation Management, Urban or Regional Planning, or comparable curriculum, and four (4) years of professional experience in the field of transportation planning; or
- A Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Transportation Management, Urban or Regional Planning, or comparable curriculum, and two (2) years of professional experience in the field of transportation planning.
