Summary:
Haas Media is seeking two (2) Deputy Outreach Managers. One position for Brooklyn and the Bronx and one position for Manhattan and Queens. The candidate must be experienced, driven, and technically adept community engagement specialist to work directly for a leading engineering firm and serve as a Deputy Outreach Manager, on a transformative correctional infrastructure program for the City of New York. As part of the outreach team, the Deputy Outreach Manager will be responsible for coordinating all daily engagement activities for two multibillion-dollar design-build projects in Manhattan and Queens. Reporting directly to the Program Outreach Manager, this role offers unique exposure to public engagement across multi-sector and multi-stakeholder municipal infrastructure projects. The Brooklyn/Bronx prefers fluency in Spanish and the Manhattan/Queens position prefers fluency Mandarin and Cantonese.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Outreach Program Manager in the development and execution of community engagement and outreach strategies on multiple concurrent design-build projects.
- Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams including architects, landscape architects, engineers, construction managers and contractors to anticipate upcoming coordination & communication needs, identify potential obstacles and challenges, and proactively address community impacts and concerns.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute public engagement events including large public workshops, stakeholder meetings, briefings with elected officials, Community Board meetings, and other events as needed.
- Work efficiently in a high-pressure environment and prioritize competing tasks to ensure smooth workflows and meet project deadlines.
- Schedule and coordinate internal and external meetings, prepare, meeting minutes, etc.
- Develop high-quality, clear, and informative presentations, graphics, fact sheets, reports, and documents for internal and external communications.
- Write, design, and format communications and present reports, and oversee SharePoint.
- Oversee Community Construction Liaison (CCLs) activities
Preferred Skills:
- Proficient computer skills, including the entire Microsoft Office Suite
- Fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese a plus (Manhattan & Queens)
- Fluency in Spanish a plus Brooklyn & the Bronx
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, structural or environmental engineering, construction management, or other related fields.
- At least five (5) years of experience in public engagement, community outreach, public speaking, and event planning.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and maintain a confident and respectful professional communication & attend public events.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work and communicate proactively and as part of a diverse team.
- Availability to work during evening and weekend hours as needed.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations and work from central and field offices.
