Join us on the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway for this free public program that will offer constructive strategies communities can use to promote economic development while preserving scenic values.

The program will be delivered by Ed McMahon, a nationally known speaker regarded as a leading authority on sustainable development, land conservation, smart growth and historic preservation. A Senior Fellow with the Urban Land Institute, McMahon argues that while America is a leader in environmental protection, the “special character” of our cities, towns, and countryside is quickly disappearing.

In this talk, McMahon will address how scenic landscapes are an economic asset and how preserving community character helps increase property values and tourism spending. He will also discuss the importance of guiding desirable development away from environmentally sensitive and distinct places and will explain the tools communities can use to avoid conflicts between conservation and economic development.
