APA NYM Economic Development Committee invites you to a panel discussion with 3 guest speakers to discuss Worker Directed Economic Development. In 2014, NYC Council voted to support a $1.2 million initiative to fund the development of worker cooperatives. Worker cooperatives are growing nationally as part of a broad movement addressing urban poverty, long-term unemployment, and income inequality. Public and private leadership have been working together to support this promising option for improving the social and economic well-being of greater New York’s most vulnerable. This panel will explore the result off that legislation by hearing from leaders of organizations who have been funded by the The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) Worker Cooperative Business Development Initiative.

Moderated panel with question and answer session to follow.
