Title: New York City Roundtable: COVID-19 Impacts for the Retail/Restaurant Industries

Event Description: While many professions offer the luxury of remote working, other sectors of the economy that foster vibrant day-to-day life of cities and towns, notably retail and dining, have been shut down or significantly reduced operations to slow the spread of the virus. For New York City, recent data show estimated tax revenue losses of up to $10 billion, with the state-run MTA noting a shortfall of at least $4 billion. This roundtable, organized by the New York Metro Chapter of the American Planning Association Economic Development Committee, brings together a range of experts to provide insight on the economic toll the virus has inflicted on the City and what lies ahead in the struggle for recovery.
