Event Type: Conference

This year’s all-day conference, to be held December 6, 2019 in New York City, is themed: Erasure, Remembrance, and Healing.

We are now accepting Session Proposals. Tickets will be on sale this fall!

This year’s theme reflects on the erasure of history, collective amnesia, the movement of remembrance, and its power to heal. Through a day of workshops, performances, panels, and walking tours, we challenge attendees to reflect upon how our narratives shape our built environment, our communities, and our relationship with one another. We invite attendees to consider which stories are told, which are silenced or capitalized, and who tells the stories. We propose that by remembering forgotten peoples, places, and stories, we embark on a process of healing ourselves, our communities, and our cities. This process of historical restoration and reclamation will not only strengthen communities, it is an important part of their ability to heal and imagine new urban futures.

We are now accepting Session Proposals! We invite you and the general public to submit proposals for innovative sessions (panels, workshops, skill-share, performance, exhibition) that focuses on the theme and ensures a diversity of panelists and speakers.

The 2019 Hindsight Conference Committee strongly encourages submissions for session proposals from across the nation and interested parties around the world. However, unfortunately at this time we are not able to provide honorariums or compensation for travel or lodging accommodations for participants.

Please follow the guidelines stated in the linked pages and submit your proposals using the following formProposals are due August 31, 2019 by 5 PM EST and proposal teams will be notified of selection by September 27, 2019. Visit hindsightcon.com for more information.
