  • Registration is Now Open: 2019 East End Conference

    Please join us for an afternoon and evening of East End-focused planning topic discussions and panels. A light dinner buffet will be served. An optional pre-conference mobile workshop/tour will be announced soon!

    The Early-Bird tickets are available HERE until Oct 4th, at the following levels:
    $20 students; $25 municipal, APA members, non-profits; $30 Non-members

    Regular ticket pricing starts on October 5th ($25 students; $30 municipal, APA members, non-profits; $35 Non-members), and ends on Oct 14th, 5PM.

    Walk-ins welcome (subject to availability), with at-the-door pricing of $5 above Regular Tickets.

  • PARK(ing) Day

    APA-NYM is teaming up with ASLA-NY, CB7 Broadway Task Force, Time Lapse Dance, Vestre, Maglin, Jetty14 Design Group, and Forms+ Surfaces for Parking Day 2019. PARK(ing) Day is an annual international event where citizens, artists and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into temporary miniature parks, or parklets. The mission of the event is to call attention to the importance of urban open space, generate a dialogue about landscape architecture and the benefits of public green space, and improving the quality of urban human habitat. Join us for a day of live dance performances, discussions, and other community building activities!

  • APA and WTS Annual Autumn Bike Tour

    Please join us on Wednesday, September 18th, for our third annual Autumn Bike Tour hosted by APA-NY Transportation Committee, WTS-GNY Young Professionals Committee, and NYC DOT Bicycle Program. This year NYC DOT bicycle staff will guide a bike tour exploring the new crosstown protected back lanes along 16th Street and 29th Street.

    We encourage you to bring a friend who may not usually ride bikes on NYC streets. Citi Bike/Motivate will provide promotional bikes to users interested in trying Citi Bike. However, please note that due to the popularity of this event, you may be put on a waiting list upon registering. There may also be a limited number of Citi Bikes available, so we ask that you bring your own bike if possible. We will confirm your attendance and Citi Bike request via email within 2 business days of registering. If you do not receive a confirmation email, you are not yet confirmed for this event.

    After the bike tour, we’ll continue with networking over food and drinks at Galway Hooker (at 133 7th Avenue South – 5 minute walk from our end point).

    Meet up location: 20th Street west of Ave C (meetup location will be confirmed closer to the event)

    Time: 4:45pm, Wednesday, September 18, 2019

    Itinerary:
    4:45pm – Meet in 20th Street west of Ave C, pick up Citi Bikes if needed.
    5:00pm – Start 1 hour bike tour of new facilities.
    6:00pm – End tour and dock Citi Bikes.
    6:10pm – Head over to Happy Hour at Galway Hooker in West Village.

    Large-Scale Developments – from Battery Park to Hudson Yards to future rezonings throughout the five boroughs – have shaped and will continue to shape the physical fabric of New York City’s built environment. This conference encourages cross-pollination among the professions of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning as we come together to examine this timely subject and explore lessons learned and potential for the future. This premier annual event among our three organizations will consist of four panel discussion sessions and a keynote speaker, each of which will address aspects of how New York City has been and will be influenced by large-scale developments.
