Active for over 20 years, the Long Island Section is a division of the New York Metro Chapter. It consists of professional planners, public officials and concerned citizens who either work or reside in Nassau or Suffolk Counties.
The APA Long Island Section coordinates various education and social events throughout the year for its members. These events consist of planning workshops and panels, guest speakers and joint meetings with other professional group. Past workshops have included visits to the Pine Barrens, Fire Island and various Long Island wineries. For the past two years, we have held a golf outing in August at Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington.
Section activities and events are organized by our Steering Committee. Steering Committee meetings are held approximately eight times a year and are open to any APA member. No additional dues or requirements are necessary to join and participation is encouraged.
Created jointly by the Suffolk County Planning Department and the APA ling Island Section, the Kunz Library is located within the Suffolk County Planning Department Office on the 4th floor of the H. Lee Denison Building in Hauppauge, New York.
It is a planning reference library that is open to the public and was initially developed by Suffolk County Planning Department as well as the Long Island Regional Planning Board. It was officially designated as the Arthur H. Kunz Memorial Library by the Suffolk County Legislature and contains resources on a varying number of planning and related subjects.
If you wish to speak to someone regarding the library or with to obtain assistance, please contact the Suffolk County Planning Department at (631) 853-5192.
Resources in the library are purchased from Arthur H. Kunz Memorial Funds. If you wish to make a contribution to the library, please make checks payable to APA Long Island Section and mail them to:
