Job Description

Serve as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in the Transit Development Group (TDG) within NYCDOTs Division of Transportation Planning & Management. Candidate will manage key planning, implementation and community outreach initiatives related to improving surface transit within New York City, including implementation and public consultation for OneNYC and NYCDOTs 2016 Strategic Plan recommendations; assist in the planning, community outreach and communications, and design and implementation of Select Bus Service (Bus Rapid Transit) projects, the Brooklyn-Queens Connector streetcar, and other transit priority and complete streets projects and policies.

Candidate will be asked to lead collaboratively and inclusively, seeking to cultivate continued professional development and growth of junior and senior staff, develop a strong team, and effectively communicate (verbal and written) with all stakeholders. Candidate will work closely with other DOT staff, with other City, State, and Federal agencies (particularly the MTA), and with the general public; work with community boards and other public stakeholders in public workshops, presentations, and other settings. Also, manage consultant work efforts and contracts, as well as capital grants; create GIS maps and perform other technical planning analysis. Manage team members as appropriate for job responsibility.

The ideal candidate should have experience in managing budgets and grants, meeting milestones and complying will all city, state and federal rules and regulations. The Transit Development Group (TDG) is responsible for developing public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies in order to improve mobility for all New Yorkers. The group manages Select Bus Service projects, and develops location-specific projects to help the quality and safety of bus operations, and to improve pedestrian access to transit. TDG also serves as a resource to the agency on public transit related matters, including acting as one of the key points of contact with the MTA agencies.
