Team Description
The Department of Subways (DOS) Rail Control Center (RCC) is responsible for coordinating service, monitoring field conditions, and directing emergency responses. As the nerve center of the subway system, its criticality continues to increase as technology advances, signals are modernized, and “mega projects” are completed. Advanced Service Initiatives (ASI), the RCC-based team that the college aide would support, manages the development and implementation of new technology systems and business processes to help drive these changes.


As a member of ASI, the Aide/Intern will be responsible for working independently and with teammates on a variety of high-profile initiatives. Likely Aide/Intern tasks will include supporting systems design and deployment, management and transportation best practice identification, and field- and office-based research in support of unit initiatives. Throughout these efforts, the Aide/Intern will be expected to help identify opportunities for efficiency and other strategic improvements.


 Current enrollment in master’s or baccalaureate degree program in Public Administration, Transportation, Engineering, Business, Urban Planning, or related fields
 Entrepreneurial spirit and strategic orientation
 Strong analytical and quantitative ability
 Excellent written and oral communication skills
 Ability to work and deliver under demanding timelines
 Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and other analytical and communication tools.
 Basic understanding of computer programming and database design (desirable, not essential).
 Comprehensive knowledge of transportation planning and/or operations concepts (desirable, not essential)
