The Hudson Valley West Section covers Orange, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster Counties. We offer a planning network. Our main activity is arranging gatherings of interested APA members, students and professional planners, but also involving planning board members (commissioners), elected officials and those from allied and complimentary fields along with concerned citizens. The following are 2010-2011 goals for Hudson Valley West section development:
Note: these goals have been formed in advance of a Chapter Development Plan and strategy update contemplated in 2011. Your comments are welcome.
- Provide timely and topical state of the art information on Chapter affairs, APA initiatives and interests, and on developments in planning
- Enable a professional and social network of area planners and serve as a resource to them
- Promote planning connections and awareness
- Identify issues of local and regional interest, aiding education, dialogue and advocacy
- Liaison with adjacent subsections and chapters, and the numerous Chapter committees
- Position the Chapter and Section as the resource for planning in the region
- As new communication platforms emerge, use appropriate tools as a way to facilitate interactions among planners
Outreach to members, to fulfill Section goals, includes offering continuing education and support. A variety of sessions and gatherings are contemplated throughout the year.
